Lucky Bar
My friends and I had a thing for a while where we would go out on Tuesdays for happy hour and get sloshed, which we affectionately referred to as Tuesday Night Drinking Club. Generally, this took place at Lucky Bar. Although we were Lucky Bar patrons on many Tuesdays, we never realized that they had a great deal on Tuesdays: $0.25 wings! And also $3.00 pints and $12.00 pitchers of Yeungling!
I ordered a plate of wings and received 10 wings, a combination of drummies and non-drummies. Lucky Bar’s regular menu offers a dozen Buffalo drummies for $8.75 (although I don’t know if you get solely drummies though).
The wings came out hot and crunchy, just like I like them, and with enough spice to make my nose a little runny without burning my mouth. However, these were not traditional Buffalo wings. The sauce was slightly vinegar-ish, with a hint of soy, maybe teriyaki, and A1 steak sauce. The result? A little tangy, a little sweet, spicy, but definitely not Buffalo style. I mean, they tasted good, but the slight Asian influence of the sauce was not the taste I expected from Buffalo wings. The wings were served with the traditional celery and carrots, along with a strange itineration of a blue cheese sauce, which tasted more like mayo with chunks of blue cheese. This was a disappointment, although I ate most of the sauce in an attempt to rescue the chunks of blue cheese from the mayo with my celery sticks. Overall, these were solid, cheap wings: a good deal and a good reason to reinstate the Tuesday Night Drinking Club.
