Reader Report: Wingipedia Goes to Cambridge, Mass.
Submitted by anneontheinternet on Mon, 03/16/2009 - 4:16amThey say you get what you pay for.
So when I put some complimentary wings on my plate at our school's monthly happy hour at Redline in Cambridge I wasn't expecting much. I guessed I'd be biting into some bland seasoning clinging to some fatty wings. A sad reward for consuming 600 calories.
Duffy's Irish Pub
Submitted by Michael on Sat, 03/14/2009 - 3:42pmA quote by George Bernard Shaw stenciled on the wall behind our table said "He who has never hoped can never despair." Maybe so, George, but given the mediocre wingery of late I was beginning to fear that wings in DC are always an afterthought. But Duffy's was City Paper's "Reader's Pick" for Best of DC in 2008, and they have a reputation to uphold. They're doing a pretty good job.
Reader Report: Lucky Bar
Submitted by gelsita on Wed, 03/04/2009 - 9:21pmMy friends and I had a thing for a while where we would go out on Tuesdays for happy hour and get sloshed, which we affectionately referred to as Tuesday Night Drinking Club. Generally, this took place at Lucky Bar. Although we were Lucky Bar patrons on many Tuesdays, we never realized that they had a great deal on Tuesdays: $0.25 wings! And also $3.00 pints and $12.00 pitchers of Yeungling!
Nellie's
Submitted by Michael on Tue, 02/10/2009 - 5:11amNellie's is a sports bar on the corner of 9th and U known for its big-screen TVs and tasteful decor.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
The Big Hunt
Submitted by Michael on Sat, 01/31/2009 - 1:23amA Dupont institution, the Big Hunt is what it is. Dim lighting, crowds at happy hour, acceptable food and good beer. And a vaguely hunting related safari aesthetic that I can't quite figure out. Nevertheless when I was called there to help one of my roommates celebrate his last day on the job it was clearly time to try the wings.
